Beating Heart or Pulsing Music

                                  Chapter 5: The Factory

As the Doom Quack soared through the sky the two passengers sat in silence. Each one with their own thoughts. After a while though, Darkwing kept glancing over at Darkwarrior. He wanted to strike up a conversation but, found it ackward. Afterall, what exaclty do you say to yourself? He glaze drifted to the steerling wheel.

"So, how'd you learn to fly?" He asked nervously.

"Practice." answered the armored mallard. It appeared he wasn't in a mood to talk.

Darkwing sighed. Starting up a conversation was going to be harder then he thought.

"Why did you need to learn in the first place? Did something happen to Launchpad?"

Darkwarrior's eyes peeled back as he glared at the ever expanding sky. "If your trying to find out about the future, you can forget it. I'm not gonna risk  screwing up the time line because curiosity got the better of you."


"Well, exscuse me for asking a simple question." The masked mallard folded his arms and slumped into his seat. Darkwarrior flipped a switch and turned on the radio.

"What, tired of hearing me rant so you gonna turn on the music?"  Darkwing sneered.

"No, I'm trying to pick up a radio signal while staying in stelth mode."  The hero hadn't even realized that the jet had become cloaked. It look perfectly visible to him.



The Doom Quack slowed down and hovered in mid air as a helicoptor passed by them by less then thirty feet. Darkwing looked at the large aircraft and pointed at it's side. "Look! That logo!"

He pulled out one of Shade's pictures from her journal and showed it to the armored mallard. "That's the same Letter R from this photo!"

Darkwarrior nodded. "Right, check this out." He fired a small device that attched itself to the tail of the chopper. Then, pressing a blue button, Darkwarrior turned up the radio. A voice emmitted through the speakers.

"So, You say Project-X is ready for a relaunch? .......Good. I should be arriving at the factory soon. I hope there will be more improvements and less mistakes then last time? Good, very good."


The helicoptor took off and the Doom Quack followed.  



Over an hour later, the helicoptor arrived at it's destination. The Doom Quack landed behind some trees nearby. Darkwarrior wasn't one to take chances. Before they got out Darkwarrior glared at his younger self.
"Unless it's a matter of life and death, keep your beak shut, got it?"

"Hey, who's the hero here?!" Darkwing replied.


Darkwarrior grabbed Darkwing by the neck and pulled him face to face. "You asked for my help, and I'm more expeirenced. Therefore, I call the shots. If you can't accept that then you can stay behind and watch the jet!"

He dropped the hero on his tail feathers and jumped out. Darkwing reluctently followed mumbling a few choice words.

The man in the helicoptor gradually stepped out. He was followed by his pet Persain. A man in a white lab coat appraoched him. "Ah, Greetings Mr. Giovanni sir. I trust you had a nice flight."

"Skip the pleasentries doctor. I want to see the experiment. Only when I see it's succsessful will I continue to fund your research."

"Ah, yes sir, as you wish. Right this way." The doctor bowed as the man in the orange business suit walked by. His persain meowed as it stared at some bushes at the side of the building. It moved closer until it's master called for it. With one final suspiscious glare it turned and hurried to catch up with the others.

After the doors closed, Darkwing emerged from the bushes. "Alright, how are we going to get in now genious?" Darkwarrior was already working on it. Using a cable he was already up and climbing into the vents that were large enough for both ducks to fit through. After he was in, he lowered the rope back down for Darkwing to climb up.

The vents were like a maze and the sound echoed and bounced off each wall.
By the time they had found the room the two men had gone two they had finished the demonstration. "Brillaint doctor! This shall indeed be the key weapon that will insure my place amoung the stars. With this pokemon I'll destroy any and all who stand in my way. Hopefully, if we can harness the power of the 'X' gene we can create an entire army!"

"We're already working on that sir. This was just the test remember." Replied the doctor. "Good, then let's step into the office to arrange the future plans." Giovanni replied.

After the two men left and the lights shut off, Darkwarrior pryed the opening free and climbed lowered himself out of the vent. Darkwing followed but, with less style as he fell to the floor.

Thee room was ptich black except for an eerie green light that was coming around the corner. Pressing himself carefully against the wall Darkwing peeked around the corner. The coast was clear so, he approached the sorce of the light.

It was some sort of tube filled with a green liquid. There was a creature floating in the tube that was hooked up to wires and cables. At first it was hard to see because the creature was curled into a fetal position and appeared lifeless but, as Darkwing got closer, he wiped the glass to get a better view.

What he saw made him jump back and gasp. Darkwarrior ran up to see what the hero was freaking out about.

"....Shade."
